1. Winner Reveals
Posting a winner reveal is a super important video content to post. With the lucky winner’s consent, film the moment they realise they’ve won.
There are several ways you can go about this, but two popular methods are:
- If you’re doing a live draw, invite the winner to join the live so you can have a little chat (and screen-record their reaction)
- Drive to their home to deliver their prize in person — bonus points if you show the prize in action, e.g. the winner driving the car, wearing the golden watch, or using the PlayStation they won. This enhances others’ FOMO; they’ll want to own it, too!
However you do it, it’s a really sweet gesture, and will act as social proof for you. Social proof is so powerful that it can convert long-time sceptics into players. It’s basically magic.
2. Winner Testimonials
Another form of social proof is winner testimonials.
This involves you filming previous winners about their experience of winning, and how the prize has benefited them, or even changed their life. It’s a short piece of video content, designed to encourage other people to enter your comps in the future — and it works!
Heck, if your brand is big on community, why not call on a player who’s been playing for a while but hasn’t won anything yet? It’ll show that your business is more than just about selling competitions and winning prizes; it’s about being there for each other.
Perhaps the real prize was the friends they made along the way. 🥹
3. Behind-the-Scenes Content
Speaking of community, one way to engage your players is to immerse them in your day-to-day work. Give them a lil glimpse behind the scenes! After all, you’ll do all those things anyway, so you may as well film and share it with your audience.
We’re talking:
- Showing small parts of the prizes to get your audience guessing ahead of the reveal
- Unboxing videos (revealing the prize!)
- Preparing prizes for shipping
- ‘Meet the team’ videos, a.k.a. videos of your team members and their roles
…And more! You can’t ever really run out of behind-the-scenes content — video or otherwise — but make sure to always keep it on-brand and engaging. You’re doing it for your business’ success at the end of the day.
Oh! Another benefit of posting behind-the-scenes video content?
You’ll be seen as a legitimate business. As a part of the competition industry, you’ve likely been met with negative comments, such as ‘scammer,’ before. It’s not nice, but there are, unfortunately, a lot of scammers in the online competitions industry. The fear of giving money away to an illegitimate business is strong in this industry.
That’s where you, and your authentic video content come in. We say ‘authentic’ because AI videos won’t get you very far. If anything, those will perpetuate the ‘scammer’ stereotype. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Especially because you’ve so much fun content, right in your hands!
4. Trending Audio Challenges
We know, we know… you’re probably thinking, ‘Why should a competition business participate in a trending audio challenge? Isn’t that just for content creators?’
Nope. Businesses participate in these trends, and you should, too. Especially if it suits your brand message, tone, and values. You gotta stay consistent. The thing about trending audios is that they can boost your visibility — sometimes by quite a bit — so you’ll want to give new potential customers the right impression of what your brand represents.
Similarly, you should make sure the trending audio speaks to your target audience in some way. This is quite easy if you’re targeting younger generations, as they’re more likely to understand niche references. But, if your target audience comprises older generations, take greater care and do deeper research on what trends they are vibing with online.
That’s not to say you can’t have fun with making this kind of video content, though. In fact, you should have fun with it, that’s the point of it. And be creative, as well as light-hearted! It’ll help get your engagement up.
5. Q&A Sessions
Q&As are a very important form of video content. You should definitely have an FAQ section clearly displayed on your website, but some players might have specific questions for you. It’s good to open yourself up to receiving them, and reply to them.
It’ll be easier for you to reply through a video than typing out all your answers, anyway. As a bonus, it also involves you more with your community, which your players will love — and it’ll boost their trust in you!
You don’t have to hold Q&A sessions every week. Doing one every few months should be enough, unless your players have a lot of questions. But doing it every once in a while gives you time to acquire new players who might have new, fresh questions about your online competitions. This will likely include topics like comp rules, odds, and prize delivery.
If you do a live Q&A, this also gives you the opportunity to receive some feedback from your players, and learn what they’d want to see from your comps and business as a whole.
